About John

John has been committed to service his entire life. In high school, John lead a local youth organization as President and helped guide others in service to the community.

During college, John participated in The Ability Experience’s annual Journey of Hope – a cross country cycling trip to raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities. The first summer, he rode a bicycle nearly 4,000 miles from San Francisco to Washington, DC. A year later, John helped the team on the road by providing the logistics and support for the journey. After being recruited by the organization, John took a year off from college studies and moved to Charlotte to lead the planning and logistics of the summer trip as Project Manager.

After college, John started a financial planning business and became a Certified Financial Planner practitioner. While growing his business, John volunteered with Plant A Seed Institute and mentored young men during college and their early career.

John serves as an advisory board member on the Pennington County 4-H Extension Board. He has helped with many 4-H activities including chaperoning at the Summer Youth Camp at Storm Mountain.

Beyond his community service, John has worked as a grassroots activist in politics for more than ten years. Phone calls, text messages, personal letters, and door knocking are part of John’s experience. Door knocking is a particular passion for John as he thoroughly enjoys connecting with the voters and citizens in our community.

John spends his free time in the outdoors – camping, hiking, and exploring. He visited our 60 National Parks and is an active advocate of “Leave No Trace”. His favorite places to camp are the Sage Creek campground in Badlands National Park (watch out for the fluffy cows) and Custer Trail Campground at Deerfield Reservoir.

I am your neighbor and I will represent YOU in Pierre.
